Wale kicks of nationwide musical series in Flint Feb. 2

His name’s Wale and he “came to get it.”

Chart-topping, go-go-inspired artist Wale, whose collaborations with the likes of Lady Gaga and Miguel have propelled him to popularity during 10 years on the music scene, is scheduled to take the stage in Flint. The live concert, set for 8 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Capitol Theatre, marks the first local show in the 2019 Beats X Beers series, curated by Brandon Corder.

Flint native and Beats X Beers Founder Brandon Corder is kicking-off  2019 with Wale,  a “kick ass” artist.

“People look to Wale as a trendsetter in the hip hop community and I feel like it’s “important that we bring his caliber of artist here, to kick things off,” says Corder.

With TheHUB Flint as its media sponsor, multiple Flint-based acts will also appear as performers in the show.

“It’s a way to showcase them on the larger stage,” Corder adds.

The goal of the event is a strong turnout to help increase Flint’s standing as a tour stop for other major talent, “so even more artists of this caliber will come to the city,” Corder says.
