There’s more to the fashion industry to than runways and glossy photos. From noon to 1:30 p.m. April 18 at Ferris Wheel, 615 South Saginaw St., Flint designers and clothing retailers can attend a fashion business workshop.
The event will be hosted by Kala Wilburn, founder of Fannie Lucille clothing and Vehicle City Fashion Week, who will share her insider knowledge with particpants ready to learn the ins and outs of launching a fashion-based business.
Wilburn has been actively involved in more than 100 area fashion events which, collectively, have attracted a draw of more than 10,000 patrons over the last seven years. Her international design experience includes work for Jay-Z’s label Rocawear and urban trendsetter Marc Ecko. Wilburn’s expansive skill set includes experience as a maker, with expertise in custom design, pattern making, manufacturing and product fulfillment. Wilburn also has proven expertise in brand development and management, marketing and communications and merchandising.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
