It is often hard for survivors of sexual and domestic violence to find their voice.

Cherisse Bradley wants to help. Her organization, I Found My Voice (IFMV), provides a range of quality services to many survivors in Flint and Genesee County and helps participants find healing through artistic creation and self-expression.

It also offers them opportunities to connect to community resources, develop critical relationships with other survivors and mentors, re-imagine their futures, and raise public awareness about the issue of abuse in our communities.

To honor the survivors of such violence Bradley and IFMV will host a Tribute to Aretha Franklin, mc lyte, Mary J. Blige, Tina Turner and others on Sept. 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre. The concert features Flint’s LaKiska Jones, who placed fourth on the sixth season of American Idol, and Cherisse Bradley, Mama Sol, Harold Green, Pierre Anthony and Kimberly Nichole.

Tickets are $25 now and $30 at the door. Click here to buy tickets. Tickets are also available at Grainery Organic Grocery, 809 Church St. Call 810-235-4621.

The event celebrates the survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and is the fifth year for the annual tribute concert.
